08 Closure Status

Revised: 08/02

08-02 Guidelines

08-02-01 Closed "Rehabilitated"

A participant has achieved an employment outcome and can be considered "rehabilitated" when:

  1. The provision of substantial services under the participant's Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) has contributed to the achievement of the employment outcome.

  2. The employment outcome is consistent with the participant's strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice.

  3. The employment outcome is in the most integrated setting possible, consistent with the individual's informed choice.

  4. The individual has maintained the employment outcome for a period of at least 90 days.

  5. The participant and the VR counselor consider the employment outcome to be satisfactory and agree that the individual is performing well on the job.

  6. The participant's job is compatible with the employment goal identified in their IPE.

If a participant accepts a job that is contraindicated by the disability, not commensurate with abilities, in a different field from that for which they trained, the counselor may consider it as a successful rehabilitation if:

  1. After counseling is provided to point out the reasons it is considered questionable or unsuitable, the participant still accepts the job; and

  2. VR services were a significant factor in the vocational adjustment leading to employment and the case record reflects this; and

  3. The IPE has been amended to reflect the employment goal of the chosen occupation.
